After being a flour mill, the building has been converted in 19th century in a place where the linen was scutched.
Scutching is a step in processing the linen. The scutching separates the impurities from the raw material, such as the straw and woody stem from flax fibers.
Several steps are necessary before scutching the linen. In the fields, the linen is collected mid-July. The next steps are retting and rippling (remove the seeds).
After scutching, the flax straw is moved to others places for hackling. At the end of the process, the flax is spun into coarse yarns and threads.
In 1918, 24 people were working at the mill. It stopped in 1956.
